YouGIS website hits 1500 visits in the last 3 months!

I would like thank all the people who visited the YouGIS website since the first version was launched last summer and would like to share some statistics.
The whole project seems be a new idea within the Archaeology sector so far. This is the reason why the website itself is still on a work in progress phase. Apologies for any inconvenience ;-(

I am delighted to announce that according to the Google Analytics statistics the web site hit 1500 visits since November 2011! 78% of these are new visitors and 22% are returning visitors who are interested in various ways into the YouGIS projects.

In total 1200 people visited the website from all over the world, which means that website has a good response on the internet search engines.

It has to be said that visit duration for the 78% of the visits is very short (between 1 and 10 seconds) however the average time on site is 3 minutes and 19 seconds.

The map below shows location of total visits:

Ireland is the country with the highest number of visits, followed by Mexico and Philippines:

Dublin is the city that returned the highest number of visits in Ireland for last three months, followed by Galway and Cork:

Gis Course Materials web page, located inside the YouGIS friends area,  has been visited 62 times during the month of December 2011 immediately after the 3 days course (12th, 19th and 26th of November) delivered for the Institute of Archaeology of Ireland:

The next 6 months are going to be important as the YouGIS website is going to be constantly restyled and updated. More articles will be posted and better photo gallery will be designed for it. The YouGIS Friend Area will be also modified in order to have a standard system of links, tutorials and download areas for different type of course.

More Open Source stuff is on the way, stay tuned! Sorridente
